Marlon Belden is a senior track athlete at Beaufort High School, graduating in the Class of 2021. Marlon, the son of Marie Belden, was born in France, but he has spent the majority of his childhood in Beaufort. He started running early on in elementary school and dabbled in basketball and soccer in middle school.

Strictly running in high school, Marlon dedicated years of practice to the sport and has won numerous events. He committed to Georgetown University in October, where he will be running Cross Country and Track.

“My favorite sport to watch aside from my own is basketball. Obviously, now I am a Hoyas fan,” he laughs.

A major influence and role model in Marlon’s life is his mother.

“I am a firm believer in motherly instinct and admire my mother for her resilience, spiritual soundness, and approach to life. I aspire to be able to give my kids the same love and support my mother gave me,” he proudly says.

Marlon’s future goal in life is simply success.

“Ultimately, whenever I reach the end of my athletic career, I just want to look back and be happy about it. I have come to realize over the years that sports carry a much deeper sentiment than what statistical accomplishments may represent,” he maturely understands.

Marlon makes his mother, teachers, and coaches proud, and will continue to honor Beaufort High School as his faithful alma mater. His full running report with races won and accolades can be found on SCmilesplit.com.
