marsh views beneath canopies of live oaks.

The Beaufort Twilight Run, presented by Habersham Properties, is set to take place on March 20 and 21, 2020. This year’s event kicks-off with a runners clinic at Grounded Running on Friday night, and the first running event is set to start at 3:30 pm on Saturday.

“We are excited about our new and improved racecourse this year and invite you to come and check it out. We expect nearly 3,000 participants and spectators from across 20 states to be in attendance on Saturday, March 21, in Beaufort’s Habersham Marketplace,” said BTR Race Director Lauren Kelly.

Known as “The Lowcountry’s Running Festival,” the BTR is a USA Track, and Field (USATF) sanctioned event. It is Chronotrack timed by RMS Sports and offers more race options than any other event in the Lowcountry, drawing both competitive runners and recreational participants. The BTR offers six options for runners and walkers of all levels:
13.1 Challenge (5K Run + 10 Mile)
10 Mile Run
8K Run
5K Run/Walk
1 Mile Youth Run
Kid’s Fun Run

The BTR is one of two events in South Carolina offering a 10-mile event. All courses are flat and spectator-friendly, offering beautiful marsh views under shaded live-oak canopies.
“This family-friendly event is perfect for participants at all fitness levels as well as spectators and friends who want to enjoy an evening of live music and great food,” said BTR Co-Chair Jeff Althoff. “Throughout the afternoon and evening, everyone can enjoy a variety of delicious food and drinks from oysters to gourmet food trucks to the Habersham Marketplace restaurants. I am excited to let you know we will once again feature the Jumperee-Bungee Jump attraction for the kids. The after-race party officially kicks-off at 6 pm, featuring the crowd favorite local band, “Broke Locals,” who specialize in “Southern Fried Funk.”

The BTR’s total cash purse is more than $6,000, with payouts to be awarded in the 13.1 Mile Beaufort Challenge, 10 Mile Run, 8K Run, and 5K Run. Categories include the three overall male and female winners of each of those races, as well as for the top male and female Masters (40+), Active Duty Military, and Hometown Hero (a Beaufort County resident). In addition to cash prizes, age group winners will receive a gift for their accomplishments.
